Pitching opportunities
This week you will be bringing your P3 pitches to class to present. Below I have detailed some items to remember when preparing, some rules when presenting or attending, and the list of presentation times.
We will have a brief class after the presentations starting around 12:45. Please make sure you are there as it will introduce P4.
Presentation prep
Some reminders when preparing your presentations.
Presentation content:
- Time is short, focus on covering only what is required:
- Description of domain and context.
- Description of a potential problem to address and why it is suitable for interface design.
- Description of an additional potental problem to address and why it is suitable for interface design.
- Highlight your research and how it supports your identification of problems.
- Do not propose solutions at this stage.
Presentation design:
- Do not use long text in the slides — we are there to listen to you present, not to read.
- Consider how the design of the slides can help us interpret the content quickly and easily.
- Pull quotes and examples from your research to support your case.
- Use citations that point to your research materials or appendix when needed to support your case.
Presentation rules
Please note the following in preparation for next week's class and presentations.
When attending presentations:
- Arrive to class at least 10-minutes before your assigned presentation time.
- Have your presentation ready on a laptop, USB key or quickly accessible URL.
- Do not enter or exit the room while a presentation is taking place.
- Entering or exiting during critiques is okay.
- Talking or otherwise disrupting a presentation will result in a penalty to your presentation grade.
When presenting:
- We will have USB-C and an HDMI connection to present from.
- You will have three minutes (3:00) to present — at 3:45 we will cut you off.
- All teammates must be in attendance to present.
- We are not requiring that all teammates speak but it is recommended that all take turns in the presentation.
- Immediately after your presentation we will provide you with some feedback (up to 3 minutes).
- We suggest taking notes on the feedback as time will be tight.
