Now presenting your feature features (May 25 - June 1)
This is old content
Andrew is not currently teaching IAT-334. This material is left online for reference only.
Now presenting your feature features
This week you will be bringing your P1: Features feature ideas to designated lab meeting times (D101 times, D102 times, D103 times).
P1 thoughts from Ladan
Some thoughts from reviewing project deliverables this week:
- If the audience if an important part of the primary purpose of the app, you can reflect it in the primary purpose as well.
- Please provide a short explanation about the 2 key features you choose and use sketches or screen shots to show which part of the application you are referring to.
- Likewise, for the design pattern, use photos, examples, or screen shots with enough explanation to communicate your perspective. Keep the design patterns and interaction patterns separate. Design patterns is about the visual aspect of the design. Look for general, repeated themes and patterns and what you need to consider when you want to add a new feature to the app.
- For the evaluation section with user interview, please put the questions and exact answers of the interviewees, you can add your interpretations, summary, or any additional description as an addition at then end.
Coming prepared to labs
Thank-you for your patience this week as we realize that crits were a bit rough. We are figuring out ways to smooth out future critiques, but we need your help to make critiques run more smoothly.
To help smooth out critiques please make sure to:
- Have your files ready as a downloadable link (i.e. SFU vault).
- Arrive at your designated time.
If you arrive late you may have to wait until the end of lab time to receive critique.
Next lecture
Future lectures and announcements will be released on Thursdays. Please email Andrew if you have any concerns with the change in plans.
The next pre-recorded lecture portion is available at https://andrewh.ca/teaches/interface_design/lectures/03/video. Please watch it before our lecture time.
During our lecture time this week we will:
- 10:30-11:30 — critique the sketching exercise. This will not be recorded.
- 11:30-11:40 — mandatory zoom break.
- 11:40-12:20 — this session will not be recorded, and will be open time to:
- do the weekly reading and start working on the reading reflection,
- start the sketching exercise,
- or pose questions to Andrew.
Next labs
Andrew will be by this week's labs to help provide critique. Thank-you for your patience while we figure out how to manage online crits.
Please head to your lab Zoom room (D101/D102 or D103) when your time is. You may just have to wait a couple of minutes while Ladan wraps up with the previous person.
If you do not see your name on the list or have concerns with your assigned time please email Andrew or message him on chat.
