Divergence Sketch (due October 8)

Instructions

To branch out your thinking a bit more this sketch has you recreate your Figma mockup, and then take it in different directions.

Please follow the instructions below:

  1. Recreate your latest P1 Figma mockup (both desktop and mobile) in a sketch. This will be your 'starting point' for this sketching exercise, please label it as 'Figma original'.
  2. Using the prompts below, sketch a modified version of your Figma original (both desktop and mobile). Make sure to label each sketch clearly:
    • 20% sketch: Consider what is the top 20% (most important) content in your Figma original. Sketch a new layout using only that top 20% of content.
    • Affordances: Consider how interactive (i.e. links) and non-interactive content is styled in your Figma original. Sketch a new layout that aims to make the distinction between what is interactive and not more clear.
    • Labels: Consider where your Figma original may be unclear to someone who has landed on this webpage unexpectedly. Sketch a new layout that provides further labelling to help such a user and make sure the labels are readable (actual text) in your sketch.

Submission

Once done, please scan or photograph your sketches for submission as one JPG file. You are allowed to use this exercise as part of your project.

Your submission is due to Canvas before 8:00am on October 8.

Grading rubric

This reading reflection is worth 1% (1 point) of your final grade.

Sketches may be shared

Please note that sketches may be shared and discussed in class.

Please avoid putting your name on your submission as a result. If you make a mistake with your submission, feel free to resubmit before the deadline.
