This is old content

Andrew is not currently teaching IAT-102. This material is left online for reference only.

Introduction

To practice presenting you will be showcasing your process and final outcome from P2: Layout.

P3: Presenting is done in teams of two, and is worth 10% of your final grade.

Weekly instructions

This project spans multiple weeks. Please read the weekly instructions carefully.

From Oct 25 to Nov 1

This week is about defining the content and structure of your presentation. Your presentation needs to provide us (your audience) with a clear sense of why you made the decisions you did.

  1. Define the content of your presentation. Answer these questions as a starting point:
    • Describe your project briefly.
    • Analyze the important steps in your process:
      • Identify 1-2 problems you encountered
      • How did you think about or approach the problem(s)?
      • How did you attempt to solve the problem(s)?
    • Evaluate your project's result critically:
      • How did your design turn out?
      • Why do you believe this?
      • What would you revise about the design given more time?
      • What did you learn about the design process?
  2. Based on your answers to the questions above, structure and sketch out medium-fidelity slides that include actual text and visual content. Consider:
    • What 'topic' should each slide cover?
    • What kinds of visuals and explanations are needed?
    • What is a logical order?
    • What should I say overtop of each slide?
  3. Prepare presentation notes for a draft presentation given in the Nov 1 class.
    • You will be given three minutes
    • We will put up your sketched slides on the projector
Bring to your Nov 1 class

Please come with the following:

  • Your sketched slides as a series of JPGs or a multi-page PDF (one slide per page)
  • Your presentation notes

From Nov 1 to Nov 8

This week is for taking the presentation draft and making it digital.

  1. Based on the feedback in the class, create a digital version of your slides. Some requirements:
    • Slide dimensions are 1280px (wide) by 720px (tall).
    • 10 slides maximum.
    • Everyone on the team must speak during the presentation.
    • The presentation may use colour.
    • Spelchek your presentation.
  2. Export a PDF version of your slides.

Final submission requirements (Nov 8)

The final submission for P3 is a PDF copy of your slides.

Your project submission is due to Canvas before your Nov 8 class.

Please make sure double-check all your submitted files and URLs to ensure they can be opened. We want to avoid late or problematic submission penalties whenever possible.
