From May 19 to May 21

In class we will spend time reading and discussing how to deal with conflict in collaboration.

1. Working in groups of four, generate three possible group project directions for the final project. These project directions must be discussed and agreed upon as a group. Give each project option a title and describe it within 25-50 words.
2. While you are generating your list, consider:
   • What would your current skillsets enable you to do creatively as a group?
   • What could you learn or want to explore creatively as a group?
   • What might be feasible to accomplish within 2-3 weeks as a group?
3. For each final project option, define what each group member could bring to the project. Provide for each group member a description of the following:
   • What core skill(s), knowledge or otherwise would they be contributing to the project? (25-50 words)
   • Please explain how those skill(s), knowledge or otherwise would be important given the project context. (25-50 words)

Bring to your May 21 class

Per group bring three final project options with a title and description (25-50 words).

For each team member include a description of what they would contribute to the project (20-50 words) and how their contribution is important given the project context (25-50 words).

From May 21 to May 26

The first pass at generating ideas for the project is meant to help us explore some of the issues and challenges of working in groups. For this week there are individual and group deliverables. Please make sure to complete both.

Individual deliverables

These deliverables are completed individually and should be done before your group meets and/or works on the group deliverables.

1. Working individually please put together a list of what you believe your team needs to agree upon before working together. Ensure you have at least three items on the list and describe each item in 10-20 words. Consider the following:
   • What do you need to set up or agree upon before working together?
   • What will help you work together more smoothly?
   • What will help you address disagreements and/or conflict?
2. Explain why each agreement item is important and/or necessary. Explain further in 20-50 words.
3. Working individually generate a list of common frustrations with team or group projects. Ensure you have at least three items on the list and describe each item in 10-20 words. Draw on your experience in the past working in groups and teams, it does not only have to be from schoolwork but can also encompass volunteering, paid work or otherwise.
4. Identify why each of the frustrations identified likely frustrated you. Clearly explain why did the cause or issue cause you to become frustrated in 20-50 words.

Group deliverables

These deliverables are completed in groups of four.

1. As a group of four, share your list of 'agreements' and 'common frustrations' identified in the individual part. Ensure everyone has some time to review them.
2. As a group discuss the list of 'agreements' and 'common frustrations'. You will need to generate a common list of agreements for the team to move forward with. Ensure that the group:
   • Considers where there is the most overlap between agreements and/or frustrations.
   • Understands the frustrations and thinks about how to address them.
   • Allows and enables everyone to share and address their concerns.
3. As a group generate a team agreement. This team agreement must include (in 100-200 words):
   • How, when and where you will meet.
   • How and how frequently you will communicate and expect responses.
   • What is considered not 'fulfilling' your obligations as a team member and why that is the case.
   • At least two other considerations provided by the team including why they are important to include.
4. Generate three possible group project directions for the final project. These project directions must be discussed and agreed upon as a group. Give each project option a title and describe it within 25-50 words.
5. While you are generating your list, consider:
   • What would your current skillsets enable you to do creatively as a group?
   • What could you learn or want to explore creatively as a group?
   • What might be feasible to accomplish within 2-3 weeks as a group?
   • Keep in mind our creativity exercises from earlier in the term may give you ways to explore how you can merge your skills and interests.
6. For each final project option, define what each group member could bring to the project. Provide for each group member a description of the following:
   • What core skill(s), knowledge or otherwise would they be contributing to the project? (25-50 words)
   • Please explain how those skill(s), knowledge or otherwise would be important given the project context. (25-50 words)

Deliverables for this project are submitted via email by 3pm on May 26. Please submit individual deliverables separately from group deliverables.
